New Delhi: Police have released sketches of the man who they claim bought the nine cycles used in the Jaipur blasts on Tuesday.
The sketch was of a 25-year-old man of medium height. The sketch of the suspect was made on the basis of descriptions given by the owner of the shop who sold the suspect all the bicycles.
Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria was quoted by news agency PTI as saying that several people might have been involved in planting the bombs and the number may be more or less than nine teams. He was further quoted as saying that two shops were identified in the walled city where from the terrorists bought cycles used in the explosions.
A rickshaw puller identified as Vijay, injured in the blasts, was being questioned as he claimed that a lady had approached him for hire to carry a new cycle to an area near Hawa Mahal, one of the sites of the terror attack, about 45 minutes before the blasts.
The rickshaw puller is undergoing treatment in hospital.
Top police officials confirm that RDX and ammonium nitrate were used in the blasts and the bombs were filled with ball bearings and nails. An alarm clock circuit was rigged to the bombs.
Eight persons were picked up for questioning for their suspected role in the serial blasts.
Authorities on Wednesday clamped curfew in 15 areas as a precautionary measure. Those picked up for interrogation included a man who was injured in the blasts.
Police have yet to name any specific group as being responsible for the blasts. However, Rajasthan Chief Minister, Vasundhara Raje and Union Minister of State for Home, Sriprakash Jaiswal have said that a "neighbouring country is responsible" for the blasts that rocked the city on Tuesday. Neither of the two took any country's name.
However, initial investigations are pointing to the involvement of Bangladesh-based Harkut-ul Jihadi Islami (HuJI).
